I am 100% behind this move for a two state solution. Im gonna do a little writing about this one tonight. stay tuned

"A successful vote in either body will not lead to an established "state" with defined borders, but it would afford the Palestinian government an upgraded international status allowing them to pursue legal actions against Israel."

And there is why all the fuss. Time and again the UN and has chastised Isreal for their handling of conflicts against Gaza. I think they are worried about ending up arrguing this out in The Hague.

So it really strikes me as hypocrisy that Isreal is so vehemently against a UN vote on a Palestinian state. The certainly didn't like Palestinians fighting for freedom. Now the dont want Them trying to find a peaceful option. If you look at the history and creation of the state of isreal , they didn't seek anyone's approval. They ignored The British Mandate for Palestine. Which was agreed upon by the league of nations on 24 July 1922 and which came into effect on 26 September 1923. It was done in order to establish new administrative regions in the middle east in order to avoid a governmental vacuum after the collapse if the ottoman empire after world war 1. This continued until 14 May 1948, when David Ben-Gurion, the Executive Head of the World Zionist Organization and president of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, declared Israel an independent state. The next day Isreals Arab neighbors attacked in defense of the Palestinians. There have been a series of wars since then. Resulting in isreal occupying the gaza strip, west bank, Golan heights, and Sinai peninsula. In the early days the zionists integrated terrorist groups involved in political assasinations into the govt. The stern gang for example. So their argument about Abbas allowing Hamas to join forces neing acceptable is highly hypocritical. As is their arguing against working to create independence outside an agreed upon frame work. Lets not forget how often isreal has faced accusations of human rights abuses in conflicts against the Palestinians. I'll post a few links here regarding isreals disproportionate use of force against civilian targets
