This is an interesting twist. I'm not sure what grabs my attention more, that it may have been a bomb. Or that this investigator was told to keep quiet and alter his notes. To what end would we want to cover this up? If it was a bomb are we talking terror attack? Assassination of one of the passengers? Or covering up the robbery of billions in jewels?

pick your conspiracy here. Any debunkers out there care to offer an explaination for the high levels of magnesium ? I'm obviously no aviation expert. I find it hard to believe that such a flammable substance would normally be part of an aircraft.
It seems I may be partially wrong here. I did a little googling and found some articles about magnesium being used in casting parts for helicopters. As well as it seems that it was a common material used in aircraft during world war II.

Swiss air flight 111 was a macdonell Douglas md-11. So far I have found no mention of magnesium castings being used in this aircraft.

I like the robbery theory best. Given that nobody knew it was (in theory, even) a bomb, nobody was terrorized by the crash, so that rules out terrorism. And it is surely a hugely impractical way to assassinate someone, though with a bunch of UN officials and a Saudi Prince aboard, it isn't impossible to imagine a target. But its a hell of a way to get rid of the evidence that a bunch of jewels that were supposed to be on board, weren't. Very movie like.
